Tangled by Emma Chase

Tangled (Tangled #1)
By Emma Chase
Published: May 20, 2013
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Humor, Male POV

Drew Evans is a winner. Handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. He has loyal friends and an indulgent family. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed?

He’ll tell you he has the flu.

But we all know that’s not really true.

Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious. She refuses to let anything - or anyone - derail her path to success. When Kate is hired as the new associate at Drew’s father’s investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy’s life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.

Then, just when Drew is on the cusp of having everything he wants, his overblown confidence threatens to ruin it all. Will he be able untangle his feelings of lust and tenderness, frustration and fulfillment? Will he rise to the most important challenge of his life?

Can Drew Evans win at love?

Tangled is not your mother’s romance novel. It is an outrageous, passionate, witty narrative about a man who knows a lot about women…just not as much as he thinks he knows. As he tells his story, Drew learns the one thing he never wanted in life, is the only thing he can’t live without.

J&M's Book Diaries rating

J&M's review:

Drew Evans a wealthy investment banker.. he's everything you would believe him to be. Good looking, sexy, seductive, rich, witty, charming , but he was also immature, crude, arrogant, he's used to getting his way, a real jerk and he makes no apologies for it. He was in fact the man whore! This book was written from the male POV and we thought in a way it was original. At least the way the author wrote it. We really felt like we were in a males head and seeing the way he really thinks. Drew Evans was brutally honest, but to no fault. His way of thinking made perfect sense because at times we came to think "well yeah, he has a point" so we couldn't help but want to support him.

One Saturday evening out he meets Kate Brooks at the bar at club REM and immediately became attracted to her and without Drews knowledge she later ends up working for his firm. Kate is beautiful. She's smart, driven, hardworking, confident and strong. But their relationship wasn't all smooth sailing in the beginning. Although Drew wanted her he couldn't have her. For one, he doesn't mix business with pleasure. Two, Kate was engaged to her boyfriend of 10+ years and she was all about her career. These two were definitely stubborn. They were both offered a job by Drews father and co-owner of their company to work on a project and who ever propose the project best would get the job. Drew and Kate went head-to-head sabotaging each others projects when they could. We loved how Drew would give Kate crap and she would throw it back in his face times two. She took none of his games and nonsense. They're bickering was very entertaining and this is when things would get so heated up with the two of them. Kate became a challenge for Drew. Especially because unlike most girls she didn't fall to her knees for him.

This book was a refreshing read but it still had the angst and steam that we all enjoy in our books. It was definitely entertaining and witty. We enjoyed that we got right inside Drew's head & feeling all his crazy male emotions. Emma Chase is also a great author and this book was very well written. We're looking forward to the rest of the Tangled series, and we hope to have a glimpse of Drew's crazy thoughts again.
